The weather was beautiful Saturday morning, so the kids and I spent an action-packed hour at the park.

There was lots of swinging… even synchronized. :)

Kaylee’s gotten quite good at pumping to swing herself.

It makes ever-so cautious Matthew nervous. He tells her not to swing so high!

Then it was on to the basketball court. Kaylee was telling Matthew to get out of the way, so he demonstrated that he wasn’t tall enough to block. He got some good air though. :)

Then Kaylee went to the other end of the court for some hopscotch. Look at that ponytail go!

She spent some time “drawing” with the rock she’d picked up for hopscotch.

Then there was time hanging out on the playground. Matthew was very proud that he made it up this twisty ladder. :)

Showing off the precious rock that Kaylee has now decided is a fossil. ;) Poor fossil would meet an unfortunate fate. I put it in my pocket for safekeeping, but it fell out when I took out my phone to check the time and was lost among the bark mulch. Bad mommy.

Kaylee’s main reason for wanting to come to the park was so she could practice on the monkey bars. Matthew demonstrated for her. His feet are still just barely off the ground.

Ta-da!

In spite of our encouragement, Kaylee was too scared to try, even though she’s only a few inches shorter than Matthew.

Maybe it would be easier from the other side. Hmmm. Nope. No go.

Finally, after leaving the playground area to go for a walk, Kaylee pleaded to go back for one more try.

Yay! She’s off the ladder!

She didn’t make it across, but it’s a start!

Of course, she had no qualms at all about again making Matthew nervous, climbing up this thingamabob...

to a height much above what she was on the monkey bars.

Silly girl.
